Annual Meeting
Join us at the Annual Meeting of the Green River Academy Preservation Society. Attendees will be able to tour the building, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, listen in on a 15-minute discussion about the exciting plans for immersive experiences, and Academy Society members will be able to vote in board elections.
Shindig
In honor of the agricultural community and the planters that organized to build the Green River Academy nearly 200 years ago, the Shindig is the recreation of an annual event held to celebrate community. The Shindig is one of the premier charity events of Southern Kentucky that highlights the tradition of celebrating the region’s unique culture and heritage. The gala features a guest chef prepared dinner set among unique locations within the Academy’s home county, and is followed by live music, dancing, and an auction.

When twilight falls on the quiet town of Elkton, Kentucky, something eerie stirs within the old Green River Academy. Guests will step beyond the threshold of time and into a world where shadows of the past linger — where voices of long-ago students, professors, and townsfolk echo through candlelit hallways. Shadows of Green River Academy is a haunting, historically-inspired theatrical experience that brings to life the real people who once walked this historic site — and the frightening echoes of their demise. Guests will explore the Academy’s ancient halls, transformed into a living stage, where true tales of duels, war-torn heartbreak, epidemics, and loss build the narrative of one of Kentucky’s most storied landmarks.
Begin your journey at Elkton-Todd County Park, where hayrides will ferry guests to the Academy. Enjoy seasonal treats like cider, cookies, and candy, with entertainment and food trucks available at the staging area.

Poetry Slam
Join us for an inspiring evening of creativity, community, and poetic expression at the first-ever Green River Academy Poetry Slam, hosted in partnership with the Todd County Public Library. This free event celebrates National Poetry Month—a global literary tradition recognizing the profound impact of poetry in our lives.
