BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Green River Academy is directed by a nine member Board of Trustees that derives its role from the membership of the Green River Academy Preservation Society. In 2009, 174 years after the construction of the Green River Academy, the charter Board of Trustees was established to organize an effort to save the Academy main building from deterioration and demolition.

Since 2009, the Board of Trustees have worked to reawaken the Green River Academy’s appointed work and renew the charge long entrusted to its keeping.

ORIGINAL BOARD

The Green River Academy’s first Board of Trustees, elected from the stockholding membership, were responsible for setting the initial expectations of the Academy project.

The Trustees met at 7 o’clock P.M. on the 4th day of October 1834, and proceeded to the election of a President and Secretary where upon Thompson M. Ewing was duly elected President and Ninian E. Gray Secretary. The Board unanimously agreed, that the proposed institution should be called and styled, The Green River Female Academy
