Step into the darker chapters of the Green River Academy’s past at Shadows of Green River Academy, an evening of true stories, theatrical storytelling, and Halloween fun. Guests will be guided through the Academy’s historic candlelit rooms, encounter real-life figures who once walked this storied landmark, and explore the ancient halls that were witness to tales of loss, heartbreak, and demise.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Guests will arrive at the Milliken Memorial Community House, present their tickets, and enjoy ghost stories with Christian County Historian William Turner, a s’mores campfire bar, candy bar, and board a hayride to explore the candlelit halls of the historic Academy, where real-life figures from its storied past emerge to share their haunting tales. Guided from room to room, guests will witness theatrical scenes inspired by true events including, duels, heartbreak, demise, and tragedy. Guests will return to the Milliken Memorial Community House for more fun family-friendly fall festivities!

Historian William Turner, known for his riveting tales of the Bell Witch, and other local spooky stories, will be telling ghost stories starting at 6:15pm at the Milliken Memorial Community House and will continue until 9:00pm on October 17th.
Todd County Historian Gary Violette will be telling grim stories of Todd County’s haunted past starting at 6:15pm at the Milliken Memorial Community House and will continue until 9:00pm on October 18th.

We invite guests to enter our first annual pumpkin carving contest! Guests can enter as many pumpkins as they like for the grand prize of $100 cash in either the adult (ages 14-99+) or child (ages 9-13) categories. Craft and carve your entry at home and then deliver it to the Milliken Memorial Community House on October 17th at 3pm. Entries will be judged by our pumpkin judges on Saturday, October 18th who will award the winners at 8pm. Entries will be placed on display until pick-up day on Sunday, October 19th. Categories include, Best Overall, Spookiest, Silliest, and Most Detailed. Purchase an entry, or several entries, for $5 each when you book your ticket.

Candy Cauldron Station

Food Truck Court
Follow the mouthwatering aromas to our Food Truck Court, where a variety of rolling kitchens serve up seasonal flavors and crowd favorites. From savory bites to sweet indulgences, each truck offers a unique taste of the season—perfect for fueling your fall festivities. -
Unfortunately, the Green River Academy and hayride is not ADA accessible. However, the Milliken Memorial Community House is ADA Accessible where the pre-events take place. The Academy is not yet fully restored, so the building does not have a permanent restroom, but a portable restroom will be available. The Milliken Memorial Community House has permanent restrooms.
Ages 4-99+: Shadows of Green River Academy tours are for everyone, appropriate for children, but the atmosphere of the Academy building is naturally quite spooky, so be aware of the spookiness level your child can tolerate, and plan accordingly. We will accommodate any child who decides that the tour is too frightening by providing a quick exit, and alternative entertainment.
