Media, Filming & Photography at Green River Academy

Green River Academy welcomes commercial, educational, entertainment, and documentary film and photography requests, as well as general media inquiries. Use of the Academy for filming is a collaborative and straightforward process, designed to support high-quality storytelling while protecting this significant historic site.

For generations, the Academy has served as a place of learning, innovation, and cultural exchange, and we are pleased to work with media partners whose projects align with our mission of education, preservation, and public engagement. Green River Academy has been featured in educational programming and regional storytelling projects produced by domestic teams. We encourage filmmakers and content creators to consider the Academy as a distinctive and historically rich location.

All filming and photography must be scheduled in advance and is subject to availability. Production schedules must be coordinated to avoid disruption to public tours, educational programming, and visitors. Depending on the nature and scope of a project, accommodations may be made to support filming needs while maintaining the integrity of the site.

Location fees for commercial advertising, fashion, catalog photography, and motion picture productions, if applicable, are determined on an individual basis and discussed during the planning process.

Ancillary services, including limited parking and temporary storage, may be available by arrangement. Local lodging and visitor services can also be recommended through regional tourism partners.

Use of Green River Academy’s logos, trademarks, historic imagery, or protected visual assets requires prior approval and appropriate licensing agreements.

IS GREEN RIVER ACADEMY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY?

Yes. Any image of the building, especially any image depicting its unique central gable, central window, and entry door, with lintels featuring limestone bosses, and its name, “GREEN RIVER ACADEMY” as it relates to the site and may only be used for commercial purposes with written permission from the Green River Academy Preservation Society. Approval is easy, and in most cases, can be obtained at no expense. To inquire, about image and name use rights, call or email Green River Academy using the contact page. All journalism media may use images of the building and the formal name of the project, “Green River Academy” or its original name, the “Green River Female Academy,” and “Green River Academy Preservation Society.”

MAY I FILM AT GREEN RIVER ACADEMY?

Filming for personal use outside of the Academy is acceptable. Filming for commercial use is prohibited without written consent from the Green River Academy Preservation Society.

MAY I FLY A DRONE OVER GREEN RIVER ACADEMY?

No. The use of drones anywhere on or above Green River Academy is strictly prohibited unless written permission is granted by the Green River Academy Preservation Society.

MAY I USE THE NAME GREEN RIVER ACADEMY IN MY BUSINESS NAME?

No. We suggest consulting with legal counsel before using Green River Academy as a business name and before registering a business name that includes "Green River Academy." The Green River Academy Preservation Society has a legal obligation to protect its name and brand and will take action to ensure that the name remains the property of the Green River Academy Preservation Society.
